In your own words, could you please tell me about yourself and what you do professionally?

My name is Gemma, I’m a fashion editor, writer, and stylist living in London.

Your home is beautifully decorated with an elegant collection of plants. Have you always had plants in your home?

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had plants. I don’t feel like a space is complete without them!

Do you remember the first plant you ever bought?

My mum has always had green fingers but I didn’t start appreciating them until later in life. When I moved to Dubai in 2013, it lacked a lot of greenery, so I visited an amazing plant souk out in the desert and bought a handful.

Not to play favourites, but… is there a plant in your collection that you particularly treasure?

When I first moved to London, four years ago, and moved into a new flat, I bought a Monstera. He’s been with me through multiple lockdowns, a few break-ups, and 4 flat moves now.

How do you go about caring for your collection of unique and beloved plants?

I’m a pretty relaxed plant mum… my Saturday morning routine usually involves watering them and giving the leaves a little spray.

In what way do your plants integrate with or complement the aesthetic narrative of your home?

I like neutral interiors so the green from my plants is the only source of colour in my flat, aside from my green velvet sofa, which of course was inspired by plants! I like a minimal, calming atmosphere and they make my space feel serene.

What creative references inspire how you style your home (e.g. Insta accounts)?

I usually look at Pinterest for inspiration; it’s a never-ending source of imagery and I can get lost for hours!

I’m curious about your personal connection to your plants. Do you feel there is a relationship between your own mental and physical well-being and your urban jungle?

I love coming home to my flat and seeing my plants. They’re usually the first thing I look at. I’m so happy when I see them growing a new shiny leaf! A flat without plants is very bleak!

And finally, do you have a motto?

I’m not sure if it’s a motto, but I believe everything happens for a reason and what’s meant for you won’t pass you by.
