About Sowvital

We are a plant sciences brand whose mission is to reconnect people and their plants through scientifically and mindfully informed nourishment and care rituals.

We carry our philosophy in our name: ‘sow’ i.e., to plant or seed, and ‘vital’, i.e., that which is essential and full of life.

Teaching

Did you know that plants trapped in pots quickly become mineral deficient, and miss out on rain, which cleans and humidifies the leaves?

It is up to the human owners to remedy this.

We spent almost two years working with experts from England, Japan and Scandinavia, to perfect our formulations. Part of this (ongoing) development and innovation process involves consciously thinking about Sowvital’s broader impact on the world, the sustainability of the materials our products are made of, our ingredients, and the role we can play in teaching the next generation about plant sciences.

Sowvital Botanical Art

“Sowvital celebrates and pays homage to the reciprocal relationship between botanical art and the plant sciences by taking inspiration from and showcasing artists and their works who have influenced and been influenced by the botanical world.”

For centuries, botanical artists have captured the lives of plants in their intimate, detailed complexity, furthering the science of botany and the understanding of the plants that share our planet. Through highlighting this symbiotic relationship, we aim to foster connection, elevating the relationships between plants, botanical art and illustration, and the scientists they have served. We believe that the story of botany in art is one that should be shared, exploring the diverse histories of the creative encounter between art and science.
Looking at botanical art helps us understand the world we live in. These representations illustrate the underlying make-up and design of biological evolution on our planet as they have been interpreted by different cultures in different parts of the world over time.
We aim to put botanical art and manuscripts back on the map and into conversation in an age when care for the environment, its flora and fauna, should be at the forefront of everyone's minds. With this imperative in mind, Sowvital will explore the symbiosis of science and design through initiatives and collaborations that underline the natural connectivity between the botanical world and visual arts.
Sowvital works to initiate, encourage and grow the creative lives of all plant-lovers.
